Don and Eileen moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia in 2005 when their twin sons, Brandon and Ashton, started school at the College of William & Mary. They originally intended to operate a bed and breakfast, but they were bit by the love bug after hosting their first wedding on the property. Don quickly put his master craftsman skills to work designing and building Historic Jasmine into the premier wedding destination venue that it is today.

Throughout the years, at Historic Jasmine, we have constantly strived to evolve and enhance our venue, ensuring that our guests have the best possible experience. We take great pride in our commitment to never settle for the ordinary. That’s why we regularly update and add new features to our space, keeping it fresh and exciting. SEPTEMBER 2005 The Smith Family purchases Historic Jasmine as a Bed & Breakfast
OCTOBER 2005The Smith Family hosts their 1st wedding
on the front porch of the Manor House (approx. 30 guests in attendance). We caught the love bug and began transforming the property into a full-time wedding venue.
2006-2010Extensive landscaping and hardscaping (pond, manicured gardens, tree plantings, statues, fountains, lighting, etc.)
DECEMBER 2010 Garden Pergola ceremony site (Built)
AUGUST 2011 Magnitude 5.8 Earthquake!
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit while we added 18th century shutters to the Manor House (Brandon was on a ladder painting the 2nd story shutters when the earthquake hit). No significant damage to the property and Brandon did not fall off the ladder. :)
